Sticks!
A great book to give you lots of ideas is ‘The stick Book – loads of thing you can make or do with a stick’ by Fiona Danks and Jo Schofield. It is full of really practical ideas that you can do straight away:
‘Stanley’s Stick’ by Neal Layton and John Hegley or ‘Leaf Man’ by Lois Ehlert will inspire the children’s imagination and allow them to create their own stories and new characters.
I love the book ‘Stick Man’ by Julia Donaldson, that was a spin off from ‘The Gruffalo’s Child’. I found this word map on line that I thought could support story writing:
